Our God is One who answers our prayers, and He is the very present help in trouble. Time and time again, it was proved in our mission work.
Before the transformation began, this village was known as a stronghold of rigid Hindu ideology. The people were firmly opposed to allowing any other religion or belief system to enter their community. As a central village with significant influence over many surrounding villages, it seemed like one of the most difficult places for the Gospel to take root.
In the early days of our ministry, two of my associates and I parked our vehicle outside the village and quietly walked in under the cover of night. Standing together in the darkness, we joined hands, prayed over the village, and dedicated it to the Lord in the name of Jesus. From that night onward, I carried a deep burden for this village and the neighbouring communities. We continued to pray faithfully for the entire region for several years.
In God’s perfect timing, He opened a door through a community development initiative—the Adult Literacy Programme sponsored by CityLife. With this support, we established an Adult Literacy Centre in the village. More than 60 adults who had never learned to read or write eagerly enrolled, including the 65-year-old mother of the village head.
As the programme progressed, the ministry at the literacy centre touched many hearts. The village head’s mother, along with several others, accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour. Their lives were transformed, and they soon approached us with a remarkable request: they asked us to establish a church in their village.
By the grace of God, a church was planted there. Today, it has grown into a strong and thriving congregation that serves as a beacon of hope in the region. From this church, several more churches have been planted, and they continue to grow both spiritually and numerically. God has faithfully answered our prayers and richly blessed the work of our hands.
All glory belongs to God. We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to CityLife for its generous support of the Adult Literacy Programme, which God used as a powerful instrument to bring lasting transformation to this village and the surrounding communities.
Wendy is a 12-year-old girl who lives in the Children’s Home we operate. She comes from a deeply religious Hindu family, yet not long after arriving at the home, she gave her life to the Lord Jesus Christ.
During the summer and winter school holidays, children whose parents were able to care for them would return home to spend time with their families. When Wendy’s father came to take her home, she was reluctant to go. She explained, “Our house is filled with idols, and my parents expect me to worship them. I cannot do that.” After talking and praying with her, we encouraged her to return home despite her concerns.
Once she arrived home, Wendy discovered that her 10-year-old brother had been missing for an entire month. Deeply burdened, she pleaded with her parents that evening to pray with her for his safe return. At first, her father became angry and refused. Undeterred, Wendy fell at his feet—a traditional Indian expression of earnest pleading—and began praying aloud through tears. Gradually, her parents joined her, praying as best they knew how, and together they continued praying until bedtime.
At 5:00 the next morning, there was a knock at the door. To the family’s overwhelming joy, their missing son had returned home safely. Filled with gratitude and convinced of God’s power, Wendy’s father gathered the idols from their home and threw them into the river. Both he and his wife placed their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
As a respected man in his village, Wendy’s father began sharing his testimony with others. Through his witness, 32 more families came to faith in Christ. The local church experienced such significant growth that its building had to be expanded to accommodate the growing congregation.
We praise God for answering prayer in ways that not only bring personal miracles but also draw many people to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. May He continue to use faithful witnesses like Wendy to transform lives, families, and entire communities for His glory.
A young woman from our church accepted a teaching position in a remote village. Although she and her husband were reluctant to relocate, they faithfully followed God’s leading. After settling into the village, they discovered there were no churches anywhere in the area. They shared with us the desperate need for the gospel to reach that community.
Together, we began praying for the village, while the couple faithfully built relationships and shared the love of Christ. Within a year, about ten people had come to faith in Jesus. They invited us to visit and minister alongside them, and through many visits and continued discipleship, a church was planted in the village.
What began as one small congregation has since multiplied into approximately 20 churches, several of which continue to receive support from CityLife.
This testimony is a powerful reminder that God hears every prayer. His answers may not always come immediately, but as we pray faithfully and serve obediently, He brings a harvest in His perfect time.
