The recent outbreak of COVID-19 in several countries has largely affected every sphere of people in the world. CityLife’s field partner in South Asia says that they have been affected not only with the spread of corona virus but also with other emerging issues that have resulted from extended lockdowns.
Many migrant workers lost their jobs and were stuck in the cities because the lockdown has shut down most forms of public transportation. COVID positive patients were unable to find hospital beds in hospitals and the ones who got the beds were struggling to find oxygen due to major scarcity of oxygen in the hospitals. The situation was so critical that even our partner lost one of their Board members and several others in their friend circle.
Our partner’s team stepped into this gap and got involved with ‘COVID Relief Operations’ since the outbreak of COVID-19. They have organised several ‘Covid Awareness Campaigns’ in the rural areas to educate people about the preventive measures and recommended safety guidelines. Their teams distributed Free Masks & Sanitizers to the most vulnerable communities in several districts.
COVID management was one of the biggest challenges for the medical agencies because most of the home quarantined COVID patients do not have proper medical equipments to monitor their essential important vitals to help the doctors providing teleconsultation to them.
These ‘COVID Management Kits’ include several important medical equipments including masks & sanitizers and delivered these kits to 100+ home quarantined families. We have also delivered ‘Free COVID Survival Kits’ that includes dry ration for a month to almost 700+ families affected by the current pandemic.
Our teams were also involved in ‘Bread of Life Project’ through which 15,000+ free community meals & breakfast packs were delivered to the migrant workers & daily wages labourers affected by the current pandemic.
Our teams are still dedicatedly involved in more than 15 districts of 6 different cities and serving these communities to provide better COVID management & relief.
