Ministry in East Malaysia is going strong even during the COVID-19 pandemic. Here’s an update from CityLife Missions Partner Michael (3Ce).
Pictured here is Ps Along Bangau, wife Connie and his lovely family Adriel, Sylvia and Adrick. Ps Along is our BEM (Borneo Evangelical Mission) champion based in Sibu, Sarawak , jointly sponsored by CityLife/3Ce and BEM to fulfil the 2-prong strategy of building the church and blessing the communities.
The COVID-19 situation has provided a tremendous opportunity to use Zoom technology to conduct the LifeTracks – Train the Trainer program with Ps Along, who in turn has conducted preliminary training with pastors and leaders using the LifeTracks 3 material that has been translated into Bahasa Malaysia.
The LifeTracks International program has garnered much enthusiasm and interest among the local leadership as part of the church planting and discipleship program. We expect this to be gradually rolled out in various locations in the coming months. Through Ps Along’s efforts, BEM bible colleges are planning to use LifeTracks for their final year students.
Similar activities are happening in Sabah via zoom for the young generation resulting in new Life Groups being formed. An informal coaching program involving CityLife partners, complements the ongoing discipleship program for a sustainable future within our indigenous communities.
The completion of the community building, a 3Ce initiative with local collaboration is a great example of blessing communities in which we serve. This building will be used for preschool, youth and families. Such a worthwhile project promotes long term trust and relationships, which are essential in cross cultural contexts.
