DFN Christmas Appeal

As we approach Christmas after a year of unanticipated challenges, we are well and truly ready to celebrate the reason for this season, which has carried us through the many trials that 2020 presented. While we celebrate, there are many who are yet to hear the message of hope.

*Manya, a 60 year old widow living in a remote village, was already feeling isolated and alone. But quarantine regulations increased her feelings of hopelessness and depression. When she developed a cough, Manya was afraid she might die of COVID-19.

*Suhania, one of our amazing Health Workers, met Manya and reached out to her in her pain.

She visited regularly and brought food, and paid the medical bills associated with her care. She purchased the necessary medicine caring for her physical, mental, spiritual and emotional needs, seeking to restore comfort and hope.

Today Manya is doing so much better. She has recovered from her cough, discovered that there are others that care about her and that she is not alone. Most importantly Manya has become a believer through this friendship! She says that she knows she never needs to feel alone again!

Manya’s story is a common one. Severe depression and isolation have followed the COVID outbreak and lockdown restrictions. Friendship, fellowship and practical care are a blessing during times of struggle.

Our 2020 Christmas Appeal offers a range of ideas to support our work this Christmas, helping the team bring hope to many of the ‘least of these’, desperate for answers.  You can choose to donate towards medical supplies, saris for Jogini women, or feed a family for a month, and gift these to others. You can even request a card to pass to your recipients. For information,  visit www.dfn.org.au/christmas/ E: info@dfn.org.au or Ph: 1 800 949 774.  All donations to our Christmas Appeal are fully tax-deductible

We are also excited to launch our very own Christmas merchandise. You can order a calendar and track through 2021 with the marginalised women and children; or buy one of our calico tote bags designed by girls in the shelter home. Purchase anti-viral masks for all the family. They come in a range of colours and sizes. We have some fantastic reading for the summer, and of course our trademark elephants – including a special elephant Christmas decoration for your tree.

To purchase any of these items visit dfn.org.au/christmas-store/, or E: info@dfn.org.au, PH: 1 800 949 774
